Types of Nappy

If you are considering cloth nappies for the first time, then the amount of choice and the jargon can be confusing, so read on and hopefully this information will help.

Cloth nappies are also referred to as "washable" "reusable" and "real" nappies - it all means the same thing.
A cloth nappy can be put on your baby in seconds and consists of three layers as follows, from baby's bottom outwards:

Liner- goes next to baby's skin and can be either flushable or washable.
Nappy - the absorbent part - loads of choice available. See "nappy choices" below.
Wrap - the outer cover that goes on last. Made from fabric that is waterproof, yet breathable.

Nappy choices: To get an idea of the full range available, download our catalogue from the home page, but basically the choices divide into 5 different types listed below, which fasten either with Velcro, poppers or a great little gadget called a Nappi Nippa which is the quicker, easier modern alternative to a pin, and works brilliantly by gripping the fabric securely without the danger of stabbing yoursellf or the baby!

"Flat" nappies - the traditional kind that you fold.
"Shaped one size" nappies - adjust to fit a baby from birth to potty.
"Shaped, sized" nappies - 2 or 3 sizes required from birth to potty.
"All in one" nappies - a wrap and a nappy sewn together that goes on in one piece and fastens with Velcro or poppers.
"Pocket"
